Paediatric Night Splint - Ankle Positioning During Rest

The OAPL Paediatric Night Splint immobilises the ankle in a plantigrade or slightly dorsiflexed position during rest. It is indicated for relief or prevention of heel pressure areas and prevention of plantar flexion contractures.

Suitable For

• Children requiring ankle immobilisation during rest, as directed by their treating clinician.
• Relief or prevention of heel pressure areas.
• Prevention of plantar flexion contractures.

Wearing Instructions

Use as directed by a doctor, physiotherapist or orthotist. Wear in slowly, for 2 hours at a time over the first 3–4 days. Release the straps if intense calf pain or cramping occurs.

Ensure the heel is as far back in the ankle-foot orthosis (AFO) as possible and secured with firm straps.
