Wrist & Thumb Support – Removable Thermoplastic Stabiliser

The Oppo Medical thumb support uses a mouldable thermoplastic plate to stabilise the thumb and relieve pain. Its listed applications include arthritis, De Quervain’s tenosynovitis and specific thumb ligament and joint injuries.

• Helps keep the carpometacarpal (CMC) and metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joints in a neutral position.
• Plate is heat-moulded within the support pocket.

Applications

• Ulnar or radial collateral ligament injury.
• Arthritis.
• De Quervain’s tenosynovitis.
• MCP or CMC joint dislocation.
• Gamekeeper’s thumb.

Fitting Instructions

1. Insert the thermoplastic plate into the pocket.
2. Pour hot water at approximately 75°C (167°F) into the pocket. Water temperature must not exceed 100°C (212°F).
3. Pour out the water when the plate becomes mouldable.
4. Mould the plate and wait until it becomes stiff. Dry the support with a towel.
5. Adjust the hook-and-loop strap for the correct fit.
